There are websites popping up all over the place where a budding entrepreneur can pitch his business concept and ask for funding from the public!
The Hufington Post refers to this as Crowdfunding.? ABC recently did a news piece on the concept.
One of my favorite sites for this,? and maybe the first site,? is kickstarter.com.? You can go there and register your project,? adding a video to capture interest.? You put your goal up,? and as people to make donations,? it tallies the amount you?ve raised.? Each project has a time limit.
When I visited the site this morning,? it ?magically? picked up my location and showed me local projects.?? The one that caught my eye was for a bakery in Marshfield call Ob La Da which uses fresh,? local ingredients in it?s baking,? therefore labeling itself as a ?locavore? bakery.? What a great concept!? Being a former restaurant owner myself,? I love the idea of helping another local restaurant or bakery become successful.
So if you would like to support a business by donating,? you can go to kickstarter.com and find a project that you can get behind.? If you?re looking for funding for your own project,? this is a great place to start.? Ob La Da has 30 backers and they?ve raised $1,696?toward their goal of $4,500 with just 18 days to go.
